Expression pedals (swell and crescendo pedals) usually use either wire contacts or a potentiometer to sense the position of the pedal. The wire contacts are fragile and easy to damage, can get dirty and unreliable with time, and are limited to about 16 levels. The potentiometers allow lots of levels but they too can wear out with use, becoming scratchy leading to temperamental performance or missing levels. The Organ Control System requires an Analogue to Digital Converter (ADC) to use a potentiometer pedal. Our pedal uses no contacts or rubbing parts and does not suffer from these problems. It is available with up to 128 levels, and with an output per level, or with binary or grey coded outputs.
We are looking into a facility to play hymn tunes, anthems, voluntaries etc. on your pipe organ when there is no organist available. This would work by pre-recording the pieces so they can be played back later, when there is no organist present. This is not an electronic recording - the music will play back using your organ pipes, and sounding exactly like it did when it was recorded.
